A superb large silver plated ear trumpet with connecting silk
wound metal tube and horn ear piece dating to the mid 19th century.
The trumpet is ornately engraved and at the base of the trumpet and
the connecting tube is inscribed
'F C Rein and Son patentees sole inventors
and only makers 108 Strand London'. The silver plated tube
disconnects from the trumpet by rotating and pulling. An ear trumpet
of this size would have rested on a table top and been lifted to
point to the speaker using the finger ring and connecting tube as a
handle. Dimensions: diameter 140 mm height 140 mm length 1320 mm
