An early 19th C obstetric vectis used to
facilitate obstructed and delayed labour in a similar way to forceps,
but because there was only the one blade they were often referred to
as "Levers". This example folds neatly at its mid point
allowing it to be easily carried by the physician making his house
calls. The handle is made from ebony in an early 18th century style. |
